Global Education Office Reception is located on the 2nd floor of Mesa Vista Hall at the south end of the building, room 2120. We are located above the ethnic centers.

Walk-In Hours and Advising Appointments

We are located on the second floor of Mesa Vista Hall.

Please make advising appointments through LoboAchieve. You can find our schedule HERE

  • Walk-in hours during the Academic Year are Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays 1:30pm-3:00pm
    • April 3rd, 9th, 10th, and 18th will not have walk-in advising.
  • Walk-in hours during the Summer are Tuesday and Thursday 1:30pm-3:00pm

Students who arrive to the Global Education Office outside of walk-ins or a scheduled appointment will not be permitted to see an advisor.

Students who have already started a study abroad application, or are currently abroad, may contact their advisor directly through email or make an appointment via LoboAchieve. Todd has served in various international education roles at Iowa State University, North Dakota State University, Indiana University, and Arcadia University’s College of Global Studies. Throughout his career in education abroad, Todd has focused on program development, institutional exchange partnerships, managing site-specific programs, student recruitment and advising, and facilitating faculty advising and training programs. He also has experience working in ISSS and international student recruitment and admissions. Todd is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

As a student, Todd was an exchange student at Sapporo University in Japan; participated in the Salzburg Seminar short-term program in Austria; and a graduate intern at the University of Otago in New Zealand. As a professional, Todd has participated in numerous education abroad site visits in Europe, Asia, and Australia/New Zealand. Todd also has experience recruiting students in Asia to study in the U.S.

In his spare time, Todd enjoys cycling, movies, experiencing new restaurants and local cultural events, traveling, and spending time with his family. His wife Pam has her Master’s in Elementary Education and is a English language tutor. Todd and Pam have three children, Kyler, Sumalee, and Aluna.

Sara Gutierrez is the Faculty-Led International Program Coordinator and previously a study abroad advisor and the passport center coordinator for GEO. Sara is a native New Mexican and UNM alumnus. After graduating from Manzano High School in Albuquerque she attended UNM, earning two undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Philosophy, along with a certificate in Peace Studies. She attained a Master’s of Public Administration and a Masters Certificate in Race and Social Justice from UNM. As evidenced by her academic accomplishments, she has a passion for international diplomacy and global issues. As a student, she studied abroad in Thailand for a semester, gaining a lifelong appreciation for Southeast Asian culture and cuisine. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, she participated in Faculty-Led programs to Italy, Canada, Panama, and Spain, both as a participant and a group leader. In her free time, she loves to try new foods, dabble in photography, and travel (23 countries on 5 continents!)

Study Abroad Advisor

Leanne Olona is the Study Abroad Advisor for Asia, the UK/Ireland, and Europe (except France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal). Leanne was born in Albuquerque but lived in 4 different states across the US before returning to the Land of Enchantment. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2021, double majoring in International Studies and Asian Studies. Leanne has been involved in education research throughout her undergraduate career. She is especially interested in social justice, history and politics in relation to higher education. Before coming to UNM, Leanne served with the College Advising Corps in rural Pennsylvania to support high school students with their post-secondary plans. In her personal travels, she has almost visited all 50 states, as well as Canada, England, Ireland, and Thailand. Outside of work, Leanne loves to read, curate playlists, and go on solo-adventures (both near and far).

Study Abroad Advisor

Madde Lesnewich is the Study Abroad Advisor for students seeking to study in The Americas, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Madde is an Albuquerque local and UNM graduate, holding a double major in International Studies and Political Science. She is an enthusiastic traveler who has worked her way around the globe as an educator, farmhand, student, and artist. She recently served in the Peace Corps as an Education and Gender Equality Volunteer in Kara Region of Togo. She has experience working, living, and traveling in over 20 countries and 5 continents. Her travel philosophy revolves around cultural immersion via the everyday --finding joy in the most mundane differences and details a region, or even a street, has to offer. In her spare time, Madde enjoys backpacking (of both the travel and mountain varieties), language acquisition, photography, illustration, coffee culture, and cooking international vegetarian cuisine.
