UNM Ambassadors - The Pack Blog Abroad Scholarship

Do you like to write? Take pictures? Share your experiences with the world? Then the UNM Ambassadors - The Pack Blog Abroad Scholarship is for you! The Blog Abroad Scholarship intends to increase the number of UNM students able to study abroad while also informing prospective students about potential areas of study. Blog Abroad Ambassadors share their cultural experiences through a blog, which UNM will host on the UNM Pack Website and on the Study Abroad website.
A total of five (5) scholarships will be awarded once a year to students departing in the fall semester. Therefore, students who are travelling abroad for either a single fall semester, or the academic year (from the fall to the spring) are eligible for this scholarship, as long as they leave in the fall. Year-long exchanges are preferred, but not required.

  • Must be departing on study abroad in the fall semester (scholarship is not available for students leaving in the spring or summer terms)
  • Be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at UNM.
  • Plan to participate in an approved UNM study abroad program.
  • Receive UNM credits or transfer credits for the international program.
  • Have regular access to computers and the Internet while abroad.

Bloggers must:
  • Create and maintain a UNM-appropriate blog; post at least once pre-departure; post a minimum of two new posts a month while abroad; post at least once upon return. Posts may include pictures, videos, and text (at least 350 words).
  • Bloggers will also be required to schedule at least 1 takeover of the UNMSTUDYABROAD Instrgram account.
  • Bloggers will assist in study abroad recruiting two times the semester after they return from study abroad.
  • Blogs will be posted on the UNM Pack page, and the GEO webpage
  • Ambassador blogs should inform prospective students about the culture and experiences of host country, including: culture shock, difficulties encountered, local customs, cuisine, interesting locations, etc.
If you are awarded a grant but decide to postpone your study abroad, you will have to submit a new grant application.
